Bénédicte Blanc-Fontenille is a multi disciplinary French artist, a 1985 graduate of L'Ecole des Beaux Arts, living and working in Miami since 2001.
Throughout her career, she has been inspired by one simple observation: the fragility of life and how this fragility creates movement, going through cycles of building up and tearing down, rising and falling, rejoicing and grieving ... then doing it all over again.
As she says: " Ironically, fragility appears to me to be energy, like an engine that propels us forward and generate movement. And life is nothing but movement."
To Bénédicte, this constant movement represents a succession of moments, which she strives to capture in photography, with installations of her paintings called Floating Horizontals, that can float on the surface of the water or fly underwater.
